- This full time Traineeship combines learning in the classroom and experience in the workplace to improve employment outcomes for participants and increase retention and productivity in the Maritime sector. The course is 52 weeks in duration. There is 50 days learning on the job. Each trainee will be assigned a workplace supervisor who will train and assess them in accordance with their Work-Based Learning Plan.
Entry requirements
Education: Applicants may have participated in Primary and Secondary Education although no formal qualifications are required. Aptitude: Applicants must have a motivation to learn, an interest in the subject and the ability to acquire the knowledge, skills and competencies set out in the course. Previous Experience: None required Applicant requirements - Major QQI Level 4 or equivalent documented industry experience also accepted. Medical Certificate of fitness to attend training course. All applicants will be invited for interview. In order for learners to participate in the Sea survival training STWC 95 Learners must get a letter from their doctor to say they are medically fit to participate. At the end of the course Learners will also require an eyesight test and medical to get the Skippers ticket.
