1 semester, part-time, on-campus. This module is co-delivered with the full-time BSc in Veterinary Nursing programme so the timetables are interdependent. The programme will be delivered on the DkIT campus over two days per week. There are 3 hours of lectures each week. There is also a weekly three-hour practical class.

Programme summary

This 10-credit part-time programme focuses on developing knowledge and skills in molecular biology, genetics and the current and emerging laboratory techniques used in modern veterinary practice. The programme addresses the relevant applications of these techniques and technologies and their role in improving animal health.

Entry requirements

Applicants must have a minimum of a BSc in Veterinary Nursing (or equivalent) which is registerable with the Veterinary Council of Ireland. Applicants who do not meet the minimum requirement may be considered for entry using the Institute's Recognised Prior Learning (RPL) procedures.
