Science is the process of understanding the world around us and underpins many of the major industrial sectors and employers in Ireland, for example, Pharmaceutical, Biotechnology, Healthcare, Agri-Food and the Green Economy. A recent review of employment opportunities in Ireland by Forfás identified that Science will be at the core of the Future Skills Needs and economic recovery in Ireland.

Irish Leaving Certificate Minimum No of Subjects: 6 Higher: 2 H5's Minimum Grade in: Maths: O3/H7 English or Irish: O6/H7 At least H4 in one of: Physics, Chemistry, Physics and Chemistry, Biology, Agricultural Science, Engineering, Technology or Applied Mathematics. 2nd Year options: Analytical Chemistry (Environmental Forensic and Pharmaceutical), Biomedical & Molecular Diagnostics, Physics with Energy and Enviroment, Physics Technology, Science with Nanotechnology, Chemical Sciences with Medical Chemistry, Nutraceuticals in Health & Nutrition, Food Science, Pharamaceutical Healthcare, Biotechnology, Pharmacutical Sciences, DNA & Forensic Analysis, Environmental Health
