Programme summary

The aim of this programme is to give students pharmaceutical theory and workplace experience in a variety of areas, including medical and pharmaceutical terminology, pharmaceutical techniques, pharmaceutical calculations, record keeping, and pharmaceutical regulations.

Entry requirements

Applicants will be 23 years or older and currently working in the pharmacy sector. Applicants under 23 years and working in the pharmacy sector must meet CAO entry requirements for higher education. Applicants may be admitted to the programme using the Recognition of Prior Learning route in accordance with ITC RPL Policy which will be considered on a case by case basis. For non-native English speakers: IELTS (5.5), TOEFL 575 (paper)/232 (computer) with TWE (5.0), TOEIC (730) or Cambridge CPE (A, B or C) and / or satisfactory performance at interview. These applications must be supported by two references completed by individuals capable of assessing the applicants suitability for the chosen programme RPL (Recognition of Prior Learning) All programmes are mapped to the SETU Carlow Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) policy https://www.itcarlow.ie/resources/quality/quality-policies-procedures.htm and applicants who wish to apply using this route can request the specific RPL for this programme. SETU Carlows RPL Policy offers clear pathways to the learner for recognition of previous learning undertaken and offer every credit to the learner in completing such learning. The Programme Board will be responsible for the assessment of entry standards and applications as part of any RPL Process.
