Duration: The programme is delivered over one semester, predominately via live online lectures on Tuesdays, in addition, students are required to attend the DkIT campus for face-to-face classes (09.00hrs to 16.30 hrs approx.) for 3 Tuesdays over the semester. Students on the programme will also be expected to undertake some independent learning. Please note this timetable is subject to change

Programme summary

This 12-week part-time programme aims to support nurses/midwives/Health and Social Care Professionals (HSCPs) in the development of knowledge, skills and competence in the core principles of palliative care.

Entry requirements

Nurses/Midwives registered with NMBI or equivalent. Health & Social Care Professionals (HSCPs) registered with a recognised professional body. Applicants should have a minimum of one-year post registration experience. Work in a practice setting where there are individuals with life-limiting illness, for the duration of the programme. Applicants will normally hold a level 8 qualification. Applicants who do not have a level 8 qualification may apply for entry to the programme in accordance with the procedures outlined in the DkIT Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) policy. Applicants may be interviewed. Due to the blended learning delivery within this course students should have access to a PC / Mac, a headset with a mic, and a broadband internet connection from home, so as to be able to fully participate in the course.
