Programme summary
This MSc is suitable to scholars that have an interest in techniques of applied mathematics that are focused mainly on mathematical models of real-world processes, their formulation in terms of differential equations, and methods of solutions, both numerical and analytical, of the models. The main emphasis of the course is on problems which arise in industry, commerce, medicine, and in the environmental and life sciences. The MSc also offers a pathway into PhD programmes within the department of Mathematics and Statistics (MACSI) in research areas that include Fluid/Solid Mechanics, Inverse Problems and Imaging and Complex Networks.
Entry requirements
Applicants should hold a bachelor’s degree (NFQ Level 8) with at least a second-class honour, grade 2 (2:2) in mathematics or a related numerate discipline.
