Programme summary
The course aims to create well-motivated new entrants to the competitive global food industry. Graduates will be equipped with the knowledge and skills to apply food science, technology and nutrition to manage product and process innovations and to manufacture safe and nutritious food products that meet consumer demand.
Entry requirements
In addition to meeting the course entry requirements applicants must also meet the General Entrance Requirements for Ulster University They must show evidence of competence in written and spoken English (GCSE Grade C or equivalent) and, where specified within individual course entry requirements, in numeracy (GCSE Grade C or equivalent). General Entrance Requirements for Ulster University https://www.ulster.ac.uk/study/entrance-requirements Students must have achieved 96 UCAS points at A2 level and have a Grade C or higher in a Science* related subject at A2 level. In addition, GCSE Science at Grade C or higher is also required. Alternatively, applicants may provide evidence of their ability to undertake the programme through the accreditation of prior experiential learning (APEL). In addition, students need to provide evidence of passes in five different subjects, two of which should be at GCE Advanced Level (A Level Grades A to E) and three at GCSE Level (Grades A to C) or an equivalent standard in an approved alternative qualification. *Science related subjects at A2 or equivalent include: Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Applied Science, Physics, Nutrition and Food Science, Environmental Science/Technology, Geography, Health and Social Care, Life and Health Sciences, Physical Education, Agricultural Science. For other qualifications, including Irish Leaving Certificate, please consult the UCAS website Tariff Tables. Leaving Certificate Applied and Leaving Certificate Foundation Level are not considered as meeting entry requirements for CAFRE programmes.
