Duration: 1.5 years, part-time, blended. Study Hours Contact hours per week are typically 6 hours. A further 18 hours per week of independent learning is also recommended. On-Campus Attendance The course is delivered online with mandatory laboratory attendance of one day in May for each group of five students There will also be a mandatory, off-campus visit (possibly in June) to a fire service training facility. In addition, written examinations (3 -4) will be held on-campus (Letterkenny or Galway) in December, March and June.

Entry requirements

Applicants are required to have an NFQ Level 6 minimum qualification in a cognate construction/engineering discipline such as Civil Engineering, Building Services or Fire Engineering; Construction Management, Building Surveying or Architectural Technology. Applicants who do not have a cognate qualification but have significant relevant experience may also be eligible for consideration via Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).
