Computer Science is a common entry course and offers the following two degree subjects: 1.Computer Science 2.Computer Science with Data Science & Artificial Intelligence 1. If you are a logical thinker who likes problem solving and you enjoy subjects like mathematics, a degree in Computer Science could well be for you. 2. If you have an interest in technology and trends, this degree subject could be for you. At its core, data science is about extracting insights from data that can transform the way a company operates. Artificial intelligence can be defined as the science and engineering of making intelligent computer programs capable of performing tasks that require subtleties of judgement, interpretation and generalisation that we associate with human intelligence.

To meet minimum entry requirements (matriculation) on the results of the Leaving Certificate, a student must present at least six recognised subjects selected according to course requirements and must obtain at least Grade H5 in two subjects and Grade O6/H7 in the remaining four subjects. Leaving Cert Subject Entry Requirements O2/H6 in Mathematics O6/H7 in English, Irish. and three other recognised subjects Computer Science Special Entry Recommendations We strongly recommend that all students in Computer Science should have a minimum Grade H4 in Leaving Certificate Mathematics, or equivalent. Computer Science with Data Science Special Entry Recommendations We strongly recommend that all students in Computer Science with Data Science & Artificial Intelligence should have a minimum Grade H4 in Leaving Certificate Mathematics, or equivalent.
