- 1 year, part-time. Course Delivery This is a part-time course that will be delivered two evenings and one afternoon per week. Timetable Information: Semester 1 (Sep-Dec) Monday 6-10pm - Collaborative BIM (10 ECTS) Wednesday 6-9pm - BIM Theory & Practice (5 ECTS) Friday 2-6pm Collaborative BIM (10 ECTS) Semester 2 (Jan-May) Tuesday 6-10pm - Design Thinking for BIM (5 ECTS) Friday 2-6pm - Digital Design & Construction (10 ECTS Semester 3 (June-Aug) AEC Industry Placement (15 ECTS) Note: Students will also undertake a research project during semesters 1 and 2. Students will meet weekly with their supervisors for approximately 30 minutes at a time that is convenient for them.
Programme summary
This programme will enable architects, designers and design/project/construction/facility managers to specialise in the use of BIM and the implementation of integrated design and delivery.
Entry requirements
Applicants should have a minimum of a Level 7 architectural technology or engineering or construction related qualification. Equivalent recognition may be given through the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) process on an individual case-by-case basis to candidates who have not achieved this academic standard but who can demonstrate significant relevant professional experience in a Built Environment discipline. What is RPL? Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is when formal recognition is given for what you already know prior to starting on a programme or module. With recognition of prior learning the focus is on learning and not on experience as such. You can apply for RPL in any MTU accredited programme or module. Programmes which are accredited by professional bodies or any external awarding bodies may have their own procedures for RPL which you should refer to.
