Animation - Letterkenny

This is a creative animation programme offering a broad range of skills designed to enable you to operate independently within the commercial environment after graduation. The contemporary animation industry requires creative thinkers who can operate flexibly within different aspects of animation production.

Leaving Certificate Entry Requirement 6 subjects at O6/H7 2 subjects at H5 English or Irish at O6/H7 Art or Design & Communication Graphics at O6/H7 or portfolio Maths not required If an applicant does not have Leaving Certificate Art or Design Communication Graphics, an ePortfolio will need to be submitted by 5pm on Friday, 2nd May 2025. The ePortfolio is your chance to show your enthusiasm for the area of animation. It should show your creativity and draughtsmanship through a range of media, including but not limited to pencil, paint, mixed-media and photography. Applicants are not expected to be already animating so do not worry if you have not made any animations but please include any animated experiments if you have made them. The ePortfolios should be in either PDF or PowerPoint format. It should include a maximum of 20 examples of work. This could be Digital artwork in either 2D or 3D Drawings or paintings, which can either be scanned or high-quality photographic images of artwork in any medium. Sketchbooks can be submitted either as a series of scanned images or you can record yourself flipping the pages as a video. This video should be posted to YouTube or Vimeo and the link supplied as part of the ePortfolio. You can also include photographic work, as well as photographs of clay, collage, mixed media, stop motion models/sets. Storyboards, comic panels and poster design can also be included. Any animated films or sequences you have created can be submitted as a link from YouTube or Vimeo. Do not include fan art. We do not need to see copies of other artists’ work. All artwork that you submit must be your own original artwork. The ePortfolio should be saved on your OneDrive or Google Drive, and a link should be shared to lorna.ross@atu.ie clearly stating both your CAO number and the CAO programme you are applying for by 5pm on Friday, 2nd May 2025. Change of mind applicants can submit their portfolio until July 1st.
