Programme summary

On completion of this programme learner will have the skills, knowledge and competencies to provide for the needs of animals independently under supervision in a range of animal care contexts and or to progress to further and or higher education and training.

Entry requirements

Education: NFQ Level 4 or equivalent when accessing a Level 5 programme. CERFL proficiency at B2 for access to Level 5 courses for those whose first language is not English Mature learner entry requirements available via the local ETB pathway Additional requirements may apply to non-EU/EEA Applicants and may be subject to full international fees (Please refer to Information for International Learners) *Each provider may have additional requirements, not outlined above. Aptitude: Applicants must have a motivation to learn, an interest in the subject and the ability to acquire the knowledge, skills and competencies set out in the course. Previous Experience: Applicants must be able to demonstrate a moderate range of knowledge, skills and competencies relevant to the course and be able to work under direction with some ability to work on their own initiative. Special consideration will be given to mature students (Over 23) or others who may not have obtained a Leaving Certificate. Entry procedure is by application and possible interview. Canine First Aid Training provided. This course will be delivered in our new Donegal ETB FET Centre - Business Hub - eircode F92 HX4F. Erasmus+ Work Placement in Europe Selected students will have the opportunity to apply for three-week work experience project in a European city where they can experience another culture; learn the basics of another language & enhance professional & personal knowledge and training. This programme includes the cost of travel and accommodation of participants. Learners can all achieve a Europass Mobility Document with this award. Learners may also have the opportunity to study Maths (5N1833) as an extra module.
