Accuracy Checking for Pharmacy Professionals - Cork

A high-quality learning programme, such as this, will allow pharmacists/pharmacy technicians to improve their accuracy skills when dispensing. It will provide learners with the skills and knowledge necessary to check for and enhance their capabilities in the dispensing process, ensuring patient safety and improving patient care.

Entry to this programme is open to qualified pharmacist/pharmacy technicians. Technicians may be qualified through a Higher Certificate in Science in Pharmacy Technician programme or through the Irish Pharmacy Union Pharmacy Technician programme. Please note the following requirements prior to enrolment: You are required to be working in a Pharmacy environment (community/hospital) at least 3 days per week for the duration of the programme to complete the required 'Accuracy Checking Logs' component of this programme. You are required to identify an education tutor within your Pharmacy setting. You should have discussed and agreed that it is feasible for the Pharmacy to facilitate your learning and completion of the 'Accuracy Checking Logs'. What is RPL? Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is when formal recognition is given for what you already know prior to starting on a programme or module. With recognition of prior learning the focus is on learning and not on experience as such. You can apply for RPL in any MTU accredited programme or module. Programmes which are accredited by professional bodies or any external awarding bodies may have their own procedures for RPL which you should refer to.
